Lady luck shines on Zenden

Boudewijn Zenden admitted he was a lucky man after marking his debut for Chelsea with a goal in the 1-1 draw with Newcastle.  

Zenden netted after eight minutes with a shot from the edge of the area.

Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given appeared to it have covered - only for the ball to squirm through his body.

And after the match the former Barcelona star, told ITV Sport Select: "It bounced a lot before it got to him (Given).

"I was lucky the ball went in but I was happy with it."

Zenden revealed he was prepared for the pace of the contest, adding: "It's 90 minutes at 200mph."

Newcastle hit back to earn a point courtesy of Clarence Acuna's 78th-minute goal.
