Lacklustre Fulham beaten again

Burnley 2 Fulham 1

Fulham are hoping that top scorer Louis Saha will be fit to return for Saturday's game at Gillingham.

Saha, who injured his knee last weekend, was missing from the lineup at Burnley as the First Division leaders slipped to only their fourth defeat of the season.

Fulham have not won at Burnley since 1951 but midfielder John Collins was not too pessimistic after the 2-1 defeat.

He said: "There are 13 games to go and we're in a healthy position, so there's no point getting down-hearted.

"The most important thing is how you react to defeat and we've got another game on Saturday to get things moving. All credit to Burn-ley, they defended well and you could see they were up for it."

Fulham remain nine points clear but defender Steve Finnan said: "We have never said or thought that we had it in the bag, despite what people like the bookmakers may say. We still have a lot to do and have never thought any other way." Barry Hayles converted a Finnan cross to give Fulham an unconvincing 49th-minute lead before Burnley hit back through goals from on-loan Gareth Taylor and Glen Little, the winner coming four minutes from time.

Fulham had their chances, notably when Finnan hit the post, and Lee Clark should have scored but he waited too long before shooting and was robbed by a fine tackle from Steve Davis.
