Key players missing for QPR

13 April 2012

QPR will be without several key players for tomorrow's visit of Swindon.

Paul Furlong (hamstring) and Jerome Thomas (ankle) have failed to shake off injuries, while Marc Bircham and Marcus Bean are suspended after being sent off in the 4-1 defeat at Wycombe.

Goalkeeper Simon Royce returns after being cup-tied for Tuesday's Worthington Cup defeat at Leyton Orient but defender Clarke Carlisle is doubtful as he struggles to gain match fitness.

QPR manager Ian Holloway said: "Losing Paul is a problem as he has been playing so well and it takes away from the balance of the side. I can't see us playing 4-4-2 with Jerome missing, but we'll have to adapt. Someone will get an opportunity."

Holloway, though, is hoping his players have got Tuesday's defeat out of their system.

"You always need another game," he said. "I'd be much happier if we'd played well and won on Tuesday as it's important to get a consistent run under your belt. We've got two home games coming up, and I can see no reason why we can't be where we want to be by next week."
