Jono poised for England war

All Black hardman Jono Gibbes believes England will turn tomorrow's second test in Auckland into a "war" as they attempt to square the series.

England are desperate to regain lost pride after their 36-3 destruction in Dunedin and flanker Gibbes, who was outstanding at Carisbrook, said: "I am sure the Second Test is going to turn into a war."

Although England head coach Clive Woodward played down that suggestion and claims by London Wasps chief Warren Gatland that the world champions were an unhappy tour party, he made it clear the players would produce a bigger physical battle.

Woodward said: "We got ambushed in Dunedin and maybe we kept our self-control too well in the First Test. We have a history of playing on the edge and I don't see it being a problem. We can win this Test match if we play to our usual standards. There's been a lot of soul searching and if I am honest, then this has been a very long week.

"You have to rise above the sort of stuff in Warren's comments. We are a happy tour party and I would like to see anyone name the supposed 19 coaches with us and when we had two-hour team meetings. Besides that, his comments are pretty factual."

All Black flanker Richie McCaw has yet to be passed fit to play after suffering a series of headaches.
