Johanna Konta is looking for a fourth coach in as many seasons after splitting with American Michael Joyce.

The British No1 teamed up with Maria Sharapova’s former coach in December, saying: “I feel like there is so much more to come.”

But Joyce was unable to slow Konta’s fall down the world rankings from a top-10 placing to her current standing of 45.

The 27-year-old had a long-term partnership with Esteban Carril until 2016, when she signed up Dutchman Wim Fisette. He helped guide her to a Wimbledon semi-final the following year and into the world’s elite, but they parted ways at the end of last season, following a slump in form.

Under Joyce, Konta had been hopeful of achieving the sort of success the Californian managed in his six years with Sharapova, during which the Russian won three grand slams.

Since the split, Joyce has started working with former Wimbledon runner-up Eugenie Bouchard, whose fall down the world rankings to outside the world’s top 100 has been far more dramatic than Konta’s.

Konta is scheduled to play a season-ending tournament in Moscow next week before starting her search for a new coach in earnest.
