Ifill hat-trick hits right note

Paul Ifill proved his critics wrong and gave Millwall a massive push towards the Second Division title with a hat-trick in the crushing 5-1 win at Cambridge.

The 21-year-old has taken some stick this season, but was the hero last night with a second-half treble - the first of his career - that kept Millwall in pole position with just two games to go.

Although second-placed Reading also won and Rotherham in third have two games in hand, Millwall are in the driving seat with the finishing tape in sight.

Manager Mark McGhee said: "Every time we win we make it more difficult for the others, and leave them doing the chasing."
