ICC delays Zimbabwe decision - report

12 April 2012

The International Cricket Council have delayed a decision on whether to ban Zimbabwe from international cricket until Friday, according to BBC Sport.

The ICC are currently meeting in Dubai to consider Zimbabwe's future cricketing status.

At least seven of the 10 members of the ICC board meeting would need to support Zimbabwe's expulsion in order for their full member status to be removed. But Zimbabwe have a vote and if India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka back them, as expected, the proposal would be defeated.

If the ICC decide on Friday not to ban Zimbabwe that will throw next summer's World Twenty20 tournament, scheduled to be held in England, into chaos.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has already stated it will not host a tour by Zimbabwe next year.

That followed hot on the heels of Cricket South Africa breaking off relations with Zimbabwe because of the political situation in the country.
