I may have fouled Victor, admits Carvalho

Ricardo Carvalho today admitted that he might have been guilty of a foul on Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes which helped John Terry score the winner in last night's dramatic victory over Barcelona.

Television replays of Terry's 76th-minute header show that Valdes was obstructed and held back by Carvalho as the Chelsea captain rose to power Damien Duff's corner into an empty net.

The goal led to angry protests from Barcelona's players, and both Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o claimed today it should have been disallowed.

Carvalho said: "It is possible that I did infringe him a little but whether it was a foul is a matter for the referee."

That was scant consolation for the despondent Ronaldinho, who said: "The goal to make it 5-4 involved a foul on Victor, and in fact the linesman stayed where he was and did not go to the centre because he had seen something. But later he rectified it with referee [Pierluigi] Collina and the goal was given."
