I blew a kiss at Leeds fans, says Freund

Steffen Freund insists he is not to blame for the fracas that led to two Leeds fans being ejected from the ground during Monday's Premiership relegation battle at Elland Road.

Freund's Leicester teammate Muzzy Izzet brought the scores level at 2-2 late in the game and the players' celebrations sparked angry exchanges with Leeds supporters.

But the German midfielder rejected accusations that he made an offensive gesture at the fans, saying: 'Ask the supporters what happened.

'They were shouting, but I don't care about that because when we scored a goal I was happy and maybe they weren't happy. But I made no gesture. I just blew a kiss at them.

'If you blow a kiss at them and they do something in return then they are wrong. I'm not guilty of anything and that's it.'

Leicester are at home to Fulham on Saturday and Freund is confident they will beat the drop. 'Leeds are level with us but nothing changes. There are still seven games to go and it is still in our hands,' he added.

'If we win the home games we will be in the Premiership next year. It is so tight at the bottom that maybe 36 or 37 points could be enough.'

Leeds captain Dominic Matteo admitted that match- winner Alan Smith's criticism of recent performances inspired their 3-2 seat-ofthepants victory.

England striker Smith claimed that Leeds had 'rolled over' this season but Matteo said: 'Alan wants this club to be in the Premiership with all his heart and if saying what he did gets the right reaction from the boys, that's good.
