Honest John admits he blocked Taylor

John Terry today today owned up to his dubious part in Chelsea's first goal as he helped his side to the win over Birmingham.

Terry blocked the run of defender Martin Taylor at a first-half corner from Damien Duff, allowing Robert Huth to charge in and fire a bullet-like header into the back of the net.

Terry then added the second, his seventh of the season, in the closing stages.

The Chelsea captain said: "Is not something we work on in training. Robert and I just said one will win it, and the other will do the block. I was pleased with my goal; it was good to get on the scoresheet. The lads were a little bit relieved after we went 2-0 up."

"Birmingham started quite well; they were bright.

"Emile Heskey was winning a lot of headers, which was disappointing defensively. But overall I think we deserved the win."

The England defender added the Blues were not yet thinking about winning a 'quadruple' of trophies, despite continuing their good form.

He said: "There is still a long way to go, so many games still to go - so we will take each game as it comes. It was the FA Cup today, Blackburn away in the league in the week. We will deal with each game as it comes."
