Hodge gets call for Ashes

14 April 2012

Lancashire may have to find a replacement for new Australian signing Brad Hodge this summer after he won his first Ashes call-up today at the age of 30.

Uncapped in Test cricket but proven in the English county game with both Durham and Leicestershire, Hodge has been given the nod over Yorkshire's Darren Lehmann.

Australia's 16-man squad for the five-Test series includes two other newcomers. Paceman Shaun Tait finished as top wicket-taker in the domestic Pura Cup season with 65 victims and Brad Haddin is a wicketkeeper-batsman.

Australia begin their tour with a match against Leicestershire on 10 June.
