Hitzfeld dilemma

13 April 2012

Ottmar Hitzfeld may accept the post of Germany coach, but he wants more time to talk it over with his wife first.

The 55-year-old, who had planned a year off after being fired by Bayern Munich, said. "I've got a week's time and I want to use it."

His wife Beatrix added: "I'm against it, but if he wants it I won't put obstacles in his path."

Rudi Voller resigned after Germany were knocked out of Euro 2004 in the first round.

German federation president Gerhard Mayer-Vorfelder, who met Hitzfeld in Spain, said: "I think he has a deep interest in taking the post."
