Henin makes short work of Dushevina

12 April 2012

Top seed Justine Henin made predictably short work of world number 83 Vera Dushevina on Centre Court to coast into the Wimbledon third round.

Henin was seldom threatened in the course of her 6-0 6-4 victory by an opponent who never previously won a match at the tournament in three attempts.

The Belgian wrapped up the first set in just 20 minutes and only had to break sweat briefly in the second when Dushevina managed to break back to level at 3-3.

The Russian continued to find her range a little better in the second set but Henin clearly had plenty in reserve as she closed on in victory.

A loss of concentration briefly threatened to extend the action when Henin went break point down as she served to round up the match.

But a netted forehand erased Dushevina's chance and Henin wrapped up her victory with two solid first serves.
