Heidar down at new deal

Heidar Helguson has rejected Watford's offer of a new deal.

Helguson has been offered a new three-year contract but is unhappy that the terms were no better than his existing £4,000-a-week deal.

Manager Adrian Boothroyd is desperate to hold on to the 27-year-old, who scored 20 goals and won the club's player-of-the-year award.

However, Watford are not prepared to increase their debts making it likely that Helguson will leave. They are believed to want £1.5million but may be forced to accept £750,000 because he can leave on a free next summer.

Helguson would be the fourth striker to leave Vicarage Road this year following the exits of Danny Webber (Sheffield United), Scott Fitzgerald (Brentford) and Bruce Dyer (released).
