Harrison scraps fight and vacates title

12 April 2012

WBO featherweight champion Scott Harrison has withdrawn from his title defence on Saturday and has vacated his title, according to his trainer and father, Peter.

The Cambuslang fighter was due to face Nicky Cook at the ExCel Arena in London this weekend. But his father has now conceded Harrison will be unable to make the weight in time for the bout and will now vacate the title "on medical advice".

Harrison told the Scottish Press Association: "Scott Harrison will be unable to defend his world featherweight title against Nicky Cook on Saturday. Scott has vacated his WBO featherweight title which he has held for four years"

"Scott was unable to get under nine stones, seven pounds, and, on medical advice, was advised not to take the fight," he added.
