Graveney's tribute for Vaughan

14 April 2012

Michael Vaughan is "without doubt" the best England captain of the last 10 years, according to chairman of selectors David Graveney.

Graveney has worked with Mike Atherton, Alec Stewart, Nasser Hussain and now Vaughan since joining the selection panel in 1994.

"The one thing that stands out for me is Michael's captaincy," said Graveney. "He has done a fantastic job. I've worked with several England captains and he is without doubt the best."

Vaughan and Co thought they had won the Champions Trophy when West Indies, needing 218, were 147 for eight. And they are probably still trying to work out how tail-enders Courtney Browne and Ian Bradshaw managed to engineer a miracle in near darkness.

"It's heartbreaking for our lads," said Graveney.
