Fulham sweat on injured Davis

Sean Davis will have his knee examined today after he twisted it in a friendly.

Fulham's star midfielder came on in the second half of his side's 4-1 win against ASK Voitsberg in Austria last night, but had to be substituted because of the injury.

The highly-rated 23-year-old, who is the subject of a rejected £3.5million bid from Everton three weeks ago, was hurt in a sliding tackle and may be sent for a scan to determine the extent of any damage.

Fulham's assistant manager, Steve Kean, said: "As Sean went in for a sliding tackle, their player collided with his leading leg and jarred his knee.

"Hopefully no serious damage has been done. We don't know the extent of the injury but he's going to be assessed. If need be we'll carry out a scan."

Manager Chris Coleman will be more concerned with Davis's fitness than the scoreline but was pleased with the performance and the presence of Fulham fans among a crowd of 400.

Coleman used the game to look at 30-year-old French defender Jerome Bonnissel, who is searching for a club after a short spell at Rangers last season.

Facundo Sava, Steve Marlet, Elvis Hammond and Louis Saha, with a penalty, scored the goals.
