Hungarian Grand Prix 2023 UK time: F1 schedule, weather forecast and how to watch live on TV today

Marc Mayo23 July 2023

Lewis Hamilton ripped pole position away from Max Verstappen as he leads the grid at today’s Hungarian Grand Prix.

It was a superb last-gasp lap in qualifying from the seven-time world champion, who pipped his former title rival by just 0.003 seconds to claim his first pole since the latter stages of the 2021 Formula 1 season.

Only one F1 driver, Sebastian Vettel, has ever managed more than seven consecutive victories as Verstappen looks to continue his streak at the Hungaroring this afternoon by matching the personal bests of Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg and Alberto Ascari.

The circuit has traditionally been a banker for Hamilton, who has eight wins in this grand prix, and he has the chance to extend that further.

The McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piatri will start on the second row, while Daniel Ricciardo finished 13th in qualifying on his return to the sport.

Ricciardo is racing for the first time in F1 this season having signed a deal with AlphaTauri. That has put the pressure on Sergio Perez, who crashed in a wet first practice session and will start the race in ninth.
