In the past 10 Premier League seasons, the club who have remained unbeaten longest from the beginning of the campaign have gone on to win the title on four occasions.

If you discount Arsenal's 2003-04 unbeaten season, both they and Liverpool are enjoying the longest unbeaten starts to a top-flight season of the past 10 years.

1997-98 — Arsenal 12 games; Final position — 1st

1998-99 — Aston Villa 12; Final position — 6th

1999-00 — Man United 9; Final position — 1st

2000-01 — Leicester 8; Final position — 13th

2001-02 — Leeds 11; Final position — 5th

2002-03 — Liverpool 12; Final position — 5th

2003-04 — Arsenal 38; Final position — 1st

2004-05 — Arsenal 9; Final position — 2nd

2005-06 — Chelsea 11; Final position — 1st

2006-07 — Aston Villa 9; Final position — 11th

2007-08 — Arsenal and Liverpool 14
