The nation has woken up with a collective football hangover following the Three Lions victory over Sweden last night.

And social media was flooded with posts complaining of sore heads as England supporters woke on Sunday morning.

It followed a night of joyous partying after England secured their spot in the semi-final next Wednesday with a 2-0 win.

Fans were overjoyed after Harry Maguire and Dele Alli scored for their team in the crucial game.

Parts of Clapham were brought to a standstill as huge swarms of people blocked off the road as they chanted football songs and let off flares.

There were also raucous scenes in London Bridge where fans waving England flags climbed up onto lampposts in their celebrations.

In Nottingham, a group of supporters were seen dancing on top of a bus shelter, while other clips from Manchester and Birmingham showed people on top of buses with their shirts off.

Former Newcastle player Mick Quinn was among those to tweet about his hangover this morning.

He wrote: "This World Cup is doing no favours to my liver. RT if like me you have a hangover this morning."

While many others told of their alcohol-induced headaches, fans said it was "the best hangover ever" as they shared their glee at England's win.
