Crystal Palace remain determined to hold onto Wilfried Zaha despite his decision to reject a new contract.

Palace failed to win a single match when Zaha wasn’t in the team last term and played a decisive role in the Eagles retaining their Premier League status for another season.

With less than a week of the summer transfer window left, Roy Hodgson’s side have had a busy few days, signing Cheikhou Kouyate and Germany midfielder Max Meyer following the arrival of goalkeeper Vicente Guaita back in June.

But keeping Zaha for another season could prove to be their best piece of business to date.

Here’s what we know so far...

Have Palace offered him a new contract?

Zaha has four years remaining on his current contract at Selhurst Park but Palace have understandably been keen to offer him improved terms.

The Ivory Coast international has already turned down a new deal worth £125,000-a-week, however.

Does he want to leave?

Standard Sport reported in July the 25-year-old indicated for the first time he wants to leave Selhurst Park, making it clear he wishes to play Champions League football.

Who has been interested?

Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for Zaha while Tottenham and Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have also held an interest in the winger.

What has changed?

Despite the interest, Palace have made it clear they have no desire to cash in on their prized asset. The club find themselves in a strong position given Zaha has four years remaining on his current deal and do not believe their academy product will attempt to force through a move before Thursday’s deadline.

Zaha’s concerns over a lack of summer transfers will have been addressed, particularly through the ambitious signing of Meyer, who has previously been courted by Arsenal and Liverpool.

Perhaps most importantly, Zaha has shown no signs of discontent in south east London, cutting a happy figure around Palace’s training ground and impressing during their pre-season matches.
