West Ham's Ashley Fletcher opens up about 'positive' move from Manchester United and his aims for the future

EXCLUSIVE

Ashley Fletcher has certainly enjoyed a positive year.

The 21-year-old striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley from Manchester United and, after getting a taste for first-team football, decided to make the bold move to leave the Red Devils for West Ham in the summer - which is already paying off.

Here in London, the forward has made 11 appearances in all competitions for Slaven Bilic's team so far this season - which included a start against his former side at Old Trafford in the EFL Cup quarter-final in late November.

Despite going on to be on the losing side, Fletcher showed United what they are missing after he scored the only goal for the Hammers in some style.

The striker is clearly benefiting from first-team football at West Ham, with Fletcher telling Standard Sport he has already learned much off his teammates Andy Carroll and Dimitri Payet in his first six months at the club.

In our exclusive chat with the 21-year-old, he also reveals how much Bilic has boosted his confidence since his move to London and states his ambitions for the future at West Ham.

Fletcher speaks to Standard Sport's Vaishali Bhardwaj about life at West Ham in the video above.
