Slaven Bilic has revealed that Aaron Cresswell will return to action after the international break following his recovery from knee ligament damage.

The left-back was sidelined for four months in July after a crunch tackle in West Ham's pre-season game against German side Karlsruher SC resulted in the 26-year-old suffering a serious knee injury.

Cresswell has since recovered from the injury and was put through his paces during a training session with the Hammers' Under-23s side on Wednesday. The defender will take part in another training session with the club's academy team tomorrow before joining up with the first team on Monday.

Speaking about Cresswell's earliest return date, Bilic said on Thursday: "Aaron Cresswell starts training on Monday and should be back after the international break."

It puts the defender in line to start against Crystal Palace on 15 October, which will be welcome news for Bilic following the knee injury to Arthur Masuaku.

He also suffered a small fracture in his hand in the 4-2 defeat at West Brom, with West Ham confirming the defender will undergo a small operation on his hand on Thursday before being re-assessed in two weeks.

Meanwhile, Havard Nordtveit will miss West Ham's home clash with Middlesbrough on Saturday after undergoing a "small medical procedure" yesterday but will return to training next week.

Andre Ayew, Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho are all nearing their returns from injury.
