West Ham are expected to welcome Andy Carroll and Aaron Cresswell back to action after the international break, co-chairman David Gold has confirmed.

Cresswell began training with the first-team on Monday after recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in the Hammers' pre-season game against German side Karlsruher SC in July.

Carroll, meanwhile, has been working towards full fitness after suffering a knee injury against Astra Giurgiu in the Europa League two months ago.

The pair, however, could be available for selection in West Ham's Premier League trip to face London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday 15 October.

In response to a fan who asked about the status of Carroll, Cresswell and Andre Ayew, West Ham co-chairman Gold tweeted on Sunday night: "Carroll and Cresswell could be available for the Palace game and Ayew the week after."

Ayew, who arrived at West Ham for a club-record fee this summer, was ruled out of action for four months after injuring his thigh against Chelsea in mid-August.

However, the Ghana forward has now returned to training after spending the past few weeks recovering in France.

The winger is expected to step up his fitness by training with West Ham's Under-23 side before re-joining the first-team in the coming weeks.
