West Ham missed the chance to move back into the top four after Newcastle held the Hammers to a draw on Saturday.

After a scrappy opening half an hour the Hammers took the lead through Craig Dawson, heading home his second goal in as many games from a delicious Aaron Cresswell free-kick.

Newcastle drew level during stoppage time at the end of the first-half when Joe Willock pounced on a poor clearance from Declan Rice, to steer an effort just over the line via the far-post.

David Moyes sent on Nikola Vlasic to liven things up but the Hammers still lacked energy going forward as Newcastle held firm.

Here is how Jack Rosser rated the Hammers at London Stadium…

Lukasz Fabianski - 6

Nothing he could have done about the goal and had very little to do other than that.

Ryan Fredericks - 5

Picked up an early booking for a silly challenge on Jacob Murphy and struggled to deal with the Newcastle wingers. Hooked at the break.

Craig Dawson - 7

Took his goal well and was untroubled at the back, tried to get West Ham going late on with some play from the back.

Kurt Zouma - 7

Solid at the back after a shaky start from the West Ham back line - kept Chris Wood quiet and dealt well with set pieces considering Newcastle’s height.

Aaron Cresswell - 7

Superb delivery for Craig Dawson’s goal and was constantly trying to up the pace in the second-half.

Declan Rice - 6

At fault for the goal during a poor first-half but recovered to try and drive West Ham on after the break.

PA

Tomas Soucek - 5

Looks way off the force West Ham supporters know he can be, offering far too little of a threat going forward.

Jarrod Bowen - 6

Struggled to get in behind a very physical Newcastle defence. Saw a good first-half effort tipped onto the bar.

Said Benrahma - 5

Some promising signs in the first-half with good balls for Michail Antonio and Bowen but faded completely after the break.

Pablo Fornals - 6

Offered more going forward than he has done in recent weeks but still lacking a sharp touch in the final third.

Michail Antonio - 5

Kept working hard to try and make an impact going forward but his touch was erratic and his finishing far too wayward.

Substitutes

Ben Johnson - 6

Shored up the right hand side of the West Ham defence, could have done more going forward.

Nikola Vlasic - N/A

Subs unused: Areola, Diop, Noble, Chesters, Yarmolenko, Kral, Alese
