Michail Antonio has given West Ham an injury scare ahead of Thursday’s crucial European clash with AZ Alkmaar after sitting out Sunday’s trip to Brentford with a calf problem.

The Hammers travel to the Netherlands for the second leg of their Europa Conference League semi-final with a slender 2-1 lead after last week’s home leg at the London Stadium.

Antonio was on the scoresheet as the Irons came from a goal down, with Said Benrahma equalising before the Jamaican poked Moyes’s side ahead.

Moyes rotated heavily for Sunday’s game at Brentford, making nine changes to his team with Premier League survival now all-but assured, but Antonio was not even named among the substitutes.

“The schedule’s been relentless and I’ve started to see a bit of fatigue in games,” Moyes said.

“We played Manchester United last Sunday, Alkmaar on Thursday.

“[Antonio’s] got a bit of a calf injury so I couldn’t really tell you much more at the moment.”
