New West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has returned to the Rush Green training ground to step up preparations for his first season in charge, and has named his backroom staff.
The Chilean, who spent time in his home country and Spain before returning to east London, will be joined by his long-term assistant Ruben Cousillas at London Stadium.
Cousillas, 61, has worked alongside Pellegrini at every club he has managed since San Lorenzo in 2001, including their time at Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Former Liverpool and Madrid goalkeeping coach Xavi Valero will also join the team at West Ham alongside first team coach Enzo Maresca and fitness coaches Jose Cabello and Felix Cao.
“My backroom staff are hugely important to me, as they have been throughout my managerial career,” Pellegrini told the club website. “I know they will play a pivotal role in helping the team prepare and perform to the best possible level.
“As a group, and as individuals, they bring with them a lot of experience and know-how as well as a great understanding of how we want to do things. These are all important factors in putting a successful team on the pitch, which is what we are all striving for.
“I’m delighted we are going to be working together again as we enter an exciting time at West Ham.”
The new manager and his staff will meet the majority of their squad on Monday as those not involved in the World Cup return to Rush Green for the start of pre-season.
