West Ham line up January moves for Glen Johnson and Robert Snodgrass

West Ham are looking at January deals for Glen Johnson and Robert Snodgrass.

The club are keen to sign a right back and Johnson, who began his career at West Ham before moving to Chelsea in 2003, after just 14 first-team appearances, would fit the bill.

Snodgrass is expected to leave Hull in this transfer window, with a clutch of clubs, including West Ham, interested in signing him for a fee of around £20m.

The Juventus striker saw a move to Valencia fall through but that deal could be back on with the Spanish club trying to secure a loan move.

Tonight West Ham host Manchester City in the third-round of the FA Cup. The build-up to the tie has been dominated by talk over Pep Guardiola’s long-term future.

The City manager spoke openly about retirement in an interview with American broadcaster NBC this week.

That came to light as he also gave a series of terse post-match interviews following Monday’s victory over Burnley, fuelling suggestions the Spaniard was unhappy.

But the 45-year-old sought to put the record straight in a bullish press conference yesterday.

He said: “I said in the interview I am not going to be training when I am 60. But guys, I am 45! I am not going to retire in two or three years.

"I love my job and am in the perfect place to do my job, especially here in England.

“I want to do something else in my life but not in the next four, five or seven years.”
