Nat Phillips completes loan transfer to Bournemouth after West Ham talks with Liverpool collapse

Liverpool defender Nat Phillips has completed a deadline day loan move to Bournemouth, following interest from West Ham.

Standard Sport reported of the Hammers’ desire to do a deal with the Reds as early as last month, but talks collapsed after Liverpool refused to budge from a £10million asking price.

David Moyes wanted a new centre-back through the door early in the window to cover for injuries to Angelo Ogbonna and Kurt Zouma. While Ogbonna will be out for a number of months, Zouma is now back in the squad.

In the meantime, Phillips has spoken publicly of his preference for a move this month, for first-team football.

On Monday, a loan switch to Bournemouth was confirmed until the end of the campaign.

The Cherries sit third in the Championship table and also signed goalkeeper Freddie Woodman from Newcastle on deadline day.

West Ham, meanwhile, have seen a £60million bid for Benfica striker Darwin Nunez rejected with the club exploring the possibility of a move for Jesse Lingard and Duje Caleta-Car as the deadline approached.
