West Ham captain Mark Noble believes Andy Carroll, who replaced Diafra Sakho and scored a hat-trick in the 3-3 draw with Arsenal, deserves serious consideration from England coach Roy Hodgson when he picks his squad for this summer’s Euros.

“A hundred per cent he would provide something different,” said Noble. “He’s had a few injuries and he takes a lot of stick. He gets those injuries because he puts his body on the line for the team and you can’t knock a player who does that.

“When he’s fit and raring to go he’s unplayable at times and he showed that against Arsenal.”

Noble is also clinging to the hope of an England recall, especially following the knee injury to Jordan Henderson, which is likely to mean the Liverpool midfielder will miss this summer’s tournament.

“I’d love to go but it’s completely out of my hands,” he said. “It would be fair to say I’m playing the best football in my career so far but we’ll see.”
