Security will be “robust” when England play at Wembley on Sunday four days after the terror attack in Westminster left four victims dead.

More than 80,000 tickets have already been sold for the World Cup qualifier against Lithuania and the FA have confirmed there will be enhanced security.

An FA spokesperson said: “Fan safety is of paramount importance and we have robust security measures in place.

“In collaboration with the local authorities and the Metropolitan Police there will be an enhanced security operation.

“All supporters are encouraged to arrive as early as possible.”

When France visited the national stadium after the attacks in Paris in November 2015, armed police provided additional patrols around Wembley.

Meanwhile, the FA were this morning finalising plans to recognise the victims of the attack.

It is expected there will be a minute’s silence before kick-off, with the EFL confirming similar tributes across the weekend domestic games. England players are also expected to wear black armbands.
