Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman responds to Memphis Depay and Lautaro Martinez transfer rumours

Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has responded to reports that the club could sign Memphis Depay or Lautaro Martinez before the end of the transfer window.

The Catalans may move to bring in another forward after the sale of Luis Suarez to Atletico Madrid on Friday and there is still over a week left until the window shuts on October 5.

"Nothing is ruled out," Koeman said on Saturday when asked about possible moves for the Lyon and Inter Milan forwards, Barca's two top targets to strengthen their forward line.

"But as I have said, I am focused on the players who are here. Barca always has to be prepared to strengthen [the squad]."

Koeman was also asked about Riqui Puig after the young midfielder was told he could leave on loan and then given a shirt number with Barca B (instead of the first team) after deciding to stay.

"They are decisions on behalf of the club," he said. "There are players with a shirt number from the first team and others with a shirt number for Barca B.

"In Riqui's case, there is competition in his position. It's not true that I don't count on Riqui, because tomorrow he is on the list of players called up and all the players called up have a chance [to play]."

And following another question about the 21-year-old, he added: "Riqui, like other youngsters, has to play games. If it can't be with the first team, then with the B or other teams.

"In the end, it's the player's decision. If Riqui and [Carles] Alena stay, they will have chances. It depends on the player's performance. That's how it is for Riqui and for other young players."
