UEFA have not ruled out Tottenham playing Champions League football at their new stadium if they beat Borussia Dortmund and qualify for the quarter-final.

The last-8 ties will be played on April 9-10 and 16-17, and UEFA said in a statement: "UEFA will remain in close contact with Tottenham Hotspur to assess the possibility of the club hosting UEFA competition matches in their new stadium this season, if the club qualifies for the next round of the UEFA Champions League."

Tottenham revealed on Wednesday morning they will remain at Wembley until the end of February with their home tie against the Bundesliga side taking place at the national team stadium on February 13.

That announcement raised the intriguing possibility that north London rivals Arsenal could be the first visitors to their behind-schedule new stadium at the start of March.

A statement from club chairman Daniel Levy read: “I should like to apologise to our fans and thank you for your continued patience.

"The response from those who attended the familiarisation event was great to hear and reinforced our commitment to deliver an exceptional matchday experience for everyone.

"We shall now seek clarity in respect of building test schedules and test event dates and provide further information on these in the next two to three weeks.”
