Tottenham have eased their search for a new striker after completing the signing of winger Steven Bergwijn from PSV Eindhoven yesterday, with a further incoming before Friday's transfer deadline now considered unlikely.

Spurs were only willing to consider a loan for AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek, who is set to sign for German club Hertha Berlin in a £22.8m deal.

Spurs could yet return to Real Sociedad with a bid for Brazilian striker Willian Jose, who was left out of the Real squad for last night's 3-1 win over Osasuna as he agitates for a move .

But Bergwijn's arrival frees-up Heung-min Son to play up-front while Harry Kane recovers from a torn hamstring and Spurs will not be held to ransom by Real, who were asking £25million for Willian Jose earlier this month

Spurs are continuing to search for a taker for transfer-listed midfielder Victor Wanyama, who is attracting interest from French club Bordeaux.

Wanyama's asking price was set at £9m at the start of the transfer window but they are willing to consider lower offers or a loan deal for the Kenyan.

Centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers has joined Championship club Luton Town on loan until the end of the season.
