Tottenham transfer news & rumours: £20m Anthony Gordon plan, Josko Gvardiol ‘problem’ and Jesse Lingard latest

Jonathan Gorrie4 July 2022

Antonio Conte is cashing in on the assurances afforded to him by both Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici this summer.

Certainly, it’s hard to remember the last time Tottenham had signed four players at this stage of the transfer window and, excitingly, it doesn’t look as if the club are stopping there.

With Conte aiming to challenge for major honours in his first full season in charge, Spurs are pulling out all of the stops in the transfer market.

Here’s the latest transfer news and rumours.

Anthony Gordon

The Sunday Mirror claims Spurs are looking to raid Everton for the second time in as many weeks.

While the club are believed to want to keep Anthony Gordon having already sold Richarlison, Spurs are reportedly ready to try their hand at signing the Goodison Park youngster.

With Everton thought to owe £10m to Spurs when Dele Alli makes 20 appearances, those in north London are said to be willing to write that off and pay a further £20m to get a deal over the line.

Josko Gvardiol

Big-money target: RB Leipzig will likely demand a huge fee for Josko Gvardiol

RB Leipzig’s Josko Gvardiol is understood to have admirers at Spurs, with the Croatian international having previously emerged as a potential alternative to Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni.

While convincing the German side to sell might be difficult, noted transfer insider Pete O’Rourke (speaking to GIVEMESPORT) has tipped the defender to make a move.

“He fits the bill; he’s among their top targets. The problem for Tottenham is that RB Leipzig do not want to sell the Croatia international, and they are trying to price him out of a move.

“So, this one might just be too expensive for Tottenham this season, but he’s a left-sided centre-back who’s young with huge potential to become a big, big player in the future as well.”

Touted as a potential target given his status as a free agent and the fact he would help Spurs with their quota of homegrown players, Jesse Lingard is also believed to be of interest to West Ham and Everton.

According to The Sun, the former Manchester United midfielder would only consider moving to Goodison Park as a last resort, leaving Spurs and West Ham in the driving seat.
