Tottenham striker Clinton N’Jie is believed to be in France after Marseille made an inquiry about a loan deal.

The French club used the negotiations with Spurs over the £10.8million sale of Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, which should be completed this week, to enquire about taking N’Jie.

The 22-year-old attacker has struggled to make an impact at White Hart Lane since joining from Lyon for £8.3m last summer.

He started just two matches in his first season at the club and made only 14 appearances in all.

N’Jie is believed to have met with head coach Mauricio Pochettino over his role in the squad yesterday and was warned competition for places will be tougher.

Although the Cameroon international was thought to be confident he could prove himself at Tottenham, sustained interest from Marseille is believed to have left him reconsidering his position.
