Tottenham forward Heung-min Son has been named as the Korea Football Association Footballer of the Year for 2017.

The 25-year-old, who has twice won the award in the past, has been in outstanding form for Spurs this year, scoring in wins over Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund as well as bagging four goals in his last five games under Mauricio Pochettino.

The winger has become a more consistent threat for the north Londoners so far this term and has looked a source of hope as Spurs struggle to break down defensive sides at Wembley Stadium.

Many feel the South Korean’s efforts have gone under the radar, however, his manager insisted earlier this month that, inside the club, he’s getting all the credit he deserves.

“I think we give him the credit that he deserves. But I don't know what the people or the media say about him and if you all recognise his talent and his job - that is not my problem,” Pochettino said.

“We gave him and will give him the credit he deserves not only because he is a good player but because he is a great professional and a great kid. He's a lovely kid and it's fantastic to work with him.”
