Luis Enrique responds to Tottenham links after Julian Nagelsmann interest cools

Tottenham target Luis Enrique is keen for his next job to be in the Premier League, but is happy to wait for the right opportunity.

Spurs have begun their search for Antonio Conte's successor, and the former Barcelona and Spain head coach is a top target for the club while Julian Nagelsmann has also been linked. It remains to be seen how Spurs manager director Fabio Paratici's worldwide football ban affects the search.

Enrique has been out of work since being sacked by Spain, following a disappointing World Cup campaign, and has largely kept quiet since but has now laid out his plans for the future.

"I would like to go to England to work, but I don't see myself in the Premier League in July," he told La SER Gijon.

"I would like to go to a team there that can do important things with and that is very difficult. I would not go to any Premier League team.

"I have had offers from national teams but not from clubs. It would have to be a very important team to take it, although it would be very difficult for me to face Spain. I don't know if I would be ready.

"I don't see myself coaching Brazil. They haven't called me and I don't know if my style fits them best."
