Mauricio Pochettino should set Tottenham up in a 3-4-3 formation on a regular basis, according to Rio Ferdinand.
Spurs crashed out of the Champions League group stages on Tuesday night after producing an insipid performance in a 2-1 defeat to Monaco, which has seen the Argentine coach's team selection widely questioned by fans.
Pochettino used a traditional back four against the Ligue 1 club, as he has done for the majority of the season - bar a 1-1 draw with Arsenal earlier this month.
And Ferdinand is adamant that Spurs should be deployed with a back three going forward as it will bring the best out of the players at Pochettino's disposal.
"I watched them against Arsenal at the Emirates - that's the best I've seen them this season," Ferdinand told BT Sport.
"They looked like a team that played three at the back.
"They've got the players to play that. Two quickest full backs in the league, wing backs who actually get up and down the pitch.
"They've got three centre halves ready made who can play in there. And Harry Kane up there is the talisman to score goals.
"That's where I see them but Pochettino is the man," he added.
Tottenham travel to Premier League leaders Chelsea, who have enjoyed great success with a 3-4-3 formation themselves this season, on Saturday evening.
Antonio Conte's side have won six top-flight games on the bounce since the Italian switched to a back three and the encounter at Stamford Bridge will be an intriguing affair if Pochettino opts for similar tactics.
