Tottenham and Arsenal fans facing travel nightmare after Premier League confirm fixture changes for run-in

Tottenham and Arsenal fans are facing a travel headache after the Premier League announced matches rescheduled for TV as the two clubs battle to finish fourth.

Spurs' match at Liverpool on Saturday, May 7 has been moved to a 7.45pm BST kick-off, while Arsenal’s game at Newcastle has been pushed back by 24 hours to Monday, May 16.

For Tottenham’s game at Anfield, the last train from Liverpool back to London that night is 20 minutes after kick-off, leaving thousands of travelling fans relying on the roads to get home. Spurs have said they will subsidise coach travel for supporters attending the match.

Arsenal will also subsidise coach travel for supporters attending their game at Newcastle, with no trains departing to London after the final whistle.

The potentially crucial north London derby will be played on Thursday, May 12, with the top four-chasing clubs level on points following this weekend's matches.

Spurs will have an extra day's rest before the game but face a tight turnaround because their subsequent home match at Burnley was moved to a midday kick-off on Sunday, May 15.

The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) said: “Ending the season in familiar fashion with another set of anti-social kick off times at the hands of the broadcasters.

“THFC providing subsidised travel for the Liverpool fixture is scant consolation for what continues to be a slap in the face for match going fans.”
