Bruno Lage has asserted that Wolves will fight to keep Adama Traore in the same manner which Tottenham fought off interest in Harry Kane.

The Spurs striker made noises about wanting to leave the club last summer and yet, with the club committed to their valuation of him amid interest from Manchester City, he stayed put.

This month has seen Antonio Conte’s Tottenham chase down winger Traore with a £20million offer reportedly rebuffed by Wolves.

On Friday, Lage told reporters: “I don't know how much Spurs offered or if they made an offer. I won't talk about money, that's not for me.

“We have a top player, a lovely guy. Sometimes this is about business. I remember how much Spurs protected Kane. We will protect our player.”

Traore scored his first goal of the season against Southampton last time out having often been used off the bench by Lage since the Portuguese coach’s summer arrival.

Lage is happy with Traore’s reaction to the rumours, and noted: “I don't see any difference in his behaviour, his mentality or the way he works. The club talks with him, they will decide the future.

“I'm happy with him. For now, he's with us and we're preparing for Brentford with him.”
