Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis said he believes the club are safe after they reached the magic 40-point mark with a 3-2 victory over Everton on Wednesday.

Goals from Jason Puncheon, Scott Dann and Cameron Jerome were enough to quell the threat of Champions League-chasing Everton as Palace became just the second side to win at Goodison Park all season.

And speaking to Sky Sports after his side's victory, which saw the Eagles climb to 11th, Pulis said: "I think we're safe but we have a responsibility to the Premier League to turn up for the next four games."

Palace's position looked perilous when Pulis arrived in south London tasked with lifting the club out of the bottom three.

With just seven points on the board from 12 games before the Welshman took charge of his first game, Pulis admitted there was a sense around the club that they were destined for the Championship.

"There was a lot of talk about having a pot of money to prepare for the next challenge in the Championship, but I enjoy a challenge and I'm determined.

"It's something I'll look back with great satisfaction on."

And asked how it ranked alongside his achievements in management, Pulis replied: "It's right up there.

"It's a great achievement by the players, the players have been wonderful. They've bought into what we've tried to do and tonight we played some very, very good football and scored some good goals."
