Thomas Frank praised Yoane Wissa’s “nose for goals” after the Brentford striker scored the opener in their 3-0 win over Fulham.

Brentford improved on last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham by beating Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage. Wissa scored the first, before Bryan Mbeumo added a double to cap off a derby-day rout.

Frank has been unwavering when asked about his attack this summer, insisting his team do not need to sign a new striker to see them through until Ivan Toney’s betting ban ends in January.

“It’s more fun to be on the end of a 3-0 win than the other way around”, said Frank. “It’s about enjoying the wins that we get. Great goal by Wissa. It’s not as easy as it looked.

“I think they are super players. Wissa, we knew, has always been a goalscorer. He scored seven goals in the first season and seven in the second in the Premier League, for a player that didn’t play much. It’s remarkable. I definitely think he is best as a 9. He’s got that nose for goals.”

Frank added: “It means a lot that the last two games our strikers have scored five goals. I have been confident that Wissa, Byran, Kevin [Schade] or Keane [Lewis-Potter] will score.

“There’s a good understanding between Byran and Wissa. Kevin and Keane are adding to it. We have very good, fluid movement.”
