Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has backed his Belgian compatriot Michy Batshuayi to hit the ground running in the Premier League this season, although the goalkeeper concedes the forward will need some time to adapt to the speed of the English top-flight.
The Blues recruited Batshauyi on a five-year deal from French side Marseille last month, before he linked up with the Chelsea squad in Austria and made his debut against RZ Pellets.
Antonio Conte subsequently played the 22-year-old in Chelsea's behind-closed-doors friendly against Austrian side Atus Ferlach, who Batshuayi got his first goals against after bagging a brace, as further substitute appearances followed against Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The striker's talent has been obvious to see in pre-season, and Courtois believes Batshuayi will prove a nuisance for opposing defenders next term - although he stressed it will take some time for the new Chelsea player to adapt to the play in the Premier League.
Speaking about Batshuayi to Chelsea's official website, Courtois said: "He is a very strong striker, fast, good technique, he can hold a ball and score a goal very easily with either foot.
"I hope he can prove himself here as well. He is good in the air as well. I won’t say it is his strongest point but he can handle himself and being strong as well is important for that.
"He will need to adapt a bit to the speed of the Premier League because I think it is faster than the French League but I think he will adapt fast.
"He is working hard so hopefully he will have a good season together with us."
