Chelsea's hopes of convincing Thibaut Courtois to sign a new deal have been boosted by the news that Real Madrid's interest in the keeper has cooled.
Standard Sport revealed earlier this month that negotiations over a new deal will resume when the Belgium international returns to pre-season training after he rejected their opening offer in May.
Courtois wants to double his current salary to £200,000-a-week, but Chelsea have been reluctant to accede to the demands thus far.
That has sparked fears among the club's fans that he could still leave for Real Madrid, where he has been on their wish-list for the past few years.
Courtois' agent Christophe Henrotay increased the supporters' concerns by suggesting this week that the 25-year-old's name comes up on a regular basis when he meets with Real Madrid officials.
He said: "Of course Thibaut is of interest to the big clubs, including the latest Champions League winner. He’s someone who helps you win games and titles.
"I meet regularly with those in charge at Real Madrid and Thibaut’s case has come up."
However, it is believed the La Liga giants have given no indication they plan to make a bid to buy Courtois for some time and have been looking elsewhere.
They want a replacement for current keeper Keylor Navas and have been targeting Manchester United's David De Gea and AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma instead.
Courtois, who has two years left on his current deal, has increasingly spoken about his desire to remain at Stamford Bridge over the last few months.

He was a key figure in their title-winning campaign last term, winning the Golden Glove award for keeping the most clean sheets (16) in the top flight.
