Thibaut Courtois: Chelsea have enough quality to secure 'tough' Champions League spot

Thibaut Courtois believes Chelsea have enough quality in their ranks to secure a Champions League spot this season despite their loss to Manchester United on Sunday.

The 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford was Chelsea's third loss in their last four Premier League matches, and resulted in the defending champions dropping into fifth place because of Tottenham's 1-0 win away to Crystal Palace.

Chelsea now sit two points off fourth-placed Spurs and face a daunting trip to the Etihad Stadium next Sunday where they will play runaway league leaders Manchester City.

Despite their current predicament, though, Courtois believes Chelsea have demonstrated in the past few weeks and, particularly in their 1-1 Champions League draw against Barcelona, that they can end the season on a high.

When asked about Chelsea's fight for a Champions League place, the goalkeeper said: "It stays the same, it is tough.

"City are obviously far away but for the second, third and fourth spot there are five teams so it will be hard until the last match of the season.

"But I think we have enough quality as we saw on Sunday and we showed it against Barcelona.

"I think we are a very good team but there are some other good teams around us as well."
