Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has already started preparing for the 2016/17 season after undertaking his first personal training session with the fitness instructor who also trains Chelsea captain John Terry.

Walcott was pictured on Tuesday undergoing a one-on-one training session with Bradley Simmonds, whose famous clients include Terry, Jamie Redknapp and Brendan Rodgers, in a bid to get himself fully fit for the new campaign - despite it being two months away.

Next to a photo of himself undergoing his new regime, Walcott wrote on Instagram: "Great first session with @bradleysimmonds and looking forward to working hard throughout the summer ready for the season ahead."

Simmonds then responded on the social media site, saying: "Brilliant first session with Arsenals @theowalcott today. Really looking forward to working with Theo this Summer as he looks to get super sharp, preparing for next season."

Walcott's determination to get into the best possible shape ahead of the new season comes as the 27-year-old was omitted from Roy Hodgson's final 23-man squad for Euro 2016, which begins on 10 June in France.

The England coach admitted Walcott's lack of regular game time at Arsenal last term and his injury woes were the reasons behind his decision to leave the Gunners star out of his team - nearly 10 years after Walcott, then aged 17 and yet to make a first-team appearance for the Gunners, was suprisingly picked for the 2006 World Cup in Germany by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Despite his omission from Hodgson's team, former England winger John Barnes told Standard Sport he doesn't believe Walcott's international career is over.

"Theo's time will come again after playing more regularly," he said.
