Stuart Pearce says he would ‘certainly’ go and talk to West Ham should they want to discuss a coaching role under the new manager.

David Moyes has been appointed as Slaven Bilic’s successor after the Croatian was sacked following a 4-1 defeat to Liverpool which saw the Hammers drop into the relegation zone.

The former Everton and Manchester United manager will have the chance to bring in a number of fresh faces to the coaching staff after all but one of Bilic’s colleagues were also dismissed.

Reports had circulated that Moyes was interested in bringing Pearce into the fold and, while he says there has been no contact from the club where he made 45 appearances, the former England defender admits he would talk to them.

“I’ve had no contact with West Ham if that’s what you mean,” the former England U21s manager told TalkSport.

“But if I had contact with them I would certainly go and talk to them.”

When asked how well he knew Moyes, Pearce also revealed that he had tried to bring him to Preston.

“[I know him] Well enough of course,” he added.

“We are members of the same union don’t you know. He tried to sign me when he was at Preston actually.

“I really enjoy doing the media work but then again I enjoy coaching – I’ve been at a club today coaching.”
