A Serie B star was shocked to discover that Arsenal had apparently been scouting him as they look to add to their attacking options.

Ante Budimir, on loan at Crotone from 2.Bundesliga side FC St Pauli, has been in fine scoring fettle over the past month, including a goal in his side's Coppa Italia match against AC Milan.

The 24-year-old earned comparisons with Dimitar Berbatov on his arrival to Germany and despite his lowly status Arsenal's Tony Banfield was reportedly in the crowd to run the rule over him.

Budimir was taken aback, telling Goal: "An Arsenal scout was watching me? Really? I didn't know!"
