Roy Keane has branded Arsenal “soft” and believes their defending is so poor that teams will want to play against them every week.

Arsenal are bottom of Champions League Group F after losing 3-2 to Olympiacos at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

Goalkeeper David Ospina made a bad error for the Greek side’s second goal but their two other efforts were the result of poor defending, one from a set-piece and the other less than a minute after Alexis Sanchez had scored at the other end to level the game at 2-2.

Boss Arsene Wenger blamed the result on bad luck afterwards but Keane told ITV: “I’m not surprised. When you look at some of the players they have, the manager mentioned about a bit of luck. Listen, they are soft. Arsenal are soft. They are weak. The goals they give away…we saw it on Tuesday night, two set-pieces again.

Arsenal vs Olympiakos: Champions League Player Ratings

1/11

“You have got no chance of winning any big game if you defend like that. I think there is certainly a weakness to the group. They look like they lack characters, leaders and winners. If you were playing now, you would fancy playing Arsenal most weeks against that group, definitely.

“Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy watching Arsenal. I think they are great to watch particularly going forward. But part of football, unfortunately, is defending and mentally they are weak.”
